Celebrate an Edgy 2009 - Bring on a Rampant 2010!

way to much Christmas Cheers ... luckily no vom-vom action this year! nice and quiet but i surely miss my Sydney posse + digs.

Change was defiantly a theme of mine this year: new hair styles & vouching never to go out in the Dubbo nightlife, full of disconcert and monotony.

2 major exhibitions that i will be participating in '10 - Dubbo Library Around the World and Lazy River Estate | Vineyard Feast : will keep you posted on my Fresh Arts track.

A new age is dawning and i can not wait one moment for my second year
to begin. Welcome in the New Year, Party On & end '09 with a Bang *

: momento mori

the current sketch that i'm working from for a new artwork.

*

in my absence i have been working; job hunting; eating beautiful home cooked foods; singing; yelling; adoring new pets; reminiscing about the good times with close friends & downloading like mad.

i regret to inform those on facebook, beware!  friends that do not write to me in the next 48 hours will be deleted... ha.

in other news -

i sold 3 prints @ the local art fair at the gallery this recent sunday. very excited as i know they will be in good hands. can't wait to get more prints off the roller now.

will be doing workshops with a local artist on monday = + experience under the belt...

INSANELY CRAZY about GAGA @ canberra in march of next year!

printmaker central.

may i introduce to you 2 ineffable artists, Dr. Milan Milojevic & Mr. Michael Kempson.
need i say more?

Milojevic is Head Printmaking of the Tasmanian School of Art. luckily enough i got to see my favourite work of his at my local gallery, the WPCC.

Kempson is Senior Lecturer; Printmaking Co-ordinator + Director of Cicada Press at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW - [& hopefully my lecturer]. his prints have that delicate technicality that i too, will one day master.

respect.

i'll be back in sydney for 2 days, as i am going to see the cofa annual for this year and catching up with my people <3

'Live Well. It is the Greatest Revenge.' - the Talmud

yay!!! just bought robert kaupelis' 30 year edition of 'experimental drawing' - my book of books.

i have been empowered by so much in the past few days. my dog's death has given me the 'push' - to steamroll who ever is trying to block my creative journey...

i am my doing ultimate best to develop lots of ideas for my prints next year. excited much about being printmaking major? i have not only inspired by art especially performance but have started to look to the other areas - fashion, architecture, philosophical literature, music, dance, technology and nature.

i am also planning on doing a quick drawing course at the National Art School [NAS] another avenue for ideas! i am super ahead too as i have already started looking at the general education courses i can do and have also narrowed down three schools for my second year professional practice.

distortion through grid drawing.

6000 years ago the totem of defeated Chinese tribes would be added to a totem for the supreme tribe. the most powerful totem became the supernatural creature. from the boar's head, deer's antlers, the snake's body, ears of an ox, whiskers of a goat, the claws of an eagle & the scales of a fish - the Dragon was born.

awesome work year 5. all i can say is fanstastical!!!
mr Yap is just over the moon.

my octopus' garden:

some drawings i found. using them to inspire me for my sculptural piece, due next week. from a hockey mask i will transform it into a elephant skull-headdress!

i also recently became curator of the small college art exhibition for enchanted evening. i had two of my works in it, 'eraser boy' 2009 (as seen in the blog's header image) and a 'still life n2'- a conte, graphite and watercolour on paper completed at tafe in 2008.

currently listening to: the temper trap, belle and sebastian, florence and the machine and metronomy.

"let them eat cake"

...and so they did. Octoberfest was hilarious. crazy, hectic beer wench's + drunken, manic and disorderly dudes. funny funny stuff!

having been told about this artist previously @ tafe, i re-looked over the abstracted works by Pakistani artist G.W BOT.  very similar to joan miro in style. i do like the aesthetic dynamics that resonate in her art.

She has got me really pumped for my art major in ... printmaking. yes i have finally decided, a Print Maker i shall be.

getting priorities right : play, rest & then work.

my student's works after my second lesson 'distortion to proportion - after Van Gogh'

aren't they amazing works for Year 6ers who did this in one hour? - yes that's right, one hour! great stuff. we looked at mark making techniques with chalk pencil, quite effective and really challenging on both ends. heaps proud.

after recent events i had such a fantastic time at Parklife. although i did not get to see the Empire of the Sun i did manage to get front  row several times including Metronomy, Bertie Blackman, Aeroplane + Metric. loved DJ Sampology, Art vs. Science + The Rapture. totally life changing. after many hours dancing and staring in awe at these artists it made me realise how lucky i was to experience this.

i know a lot of people missed out on tickets or had other plans but i am truely greatful for this festival popping my outdoor festival cherry. i will forever relive these moments in my life a thousand times over. there is no doubt always sydney culture is hard to beat.

i had also missed out on receiving the position of ball director, a executive position within my college. although disheartening i was asked to be the assitant, gotta love second best.

the next few weeks will sum up my first year of university - fast lived, academic and out of control! with three major assignments left with one silly little slide test. bring it on i say.

& with exam weeks coming ...  i am super lucky i do not have any - [i dislike exams ie. hsc kills it for anyone], rather a week and a half's worth of professional experience at a primary school, which i too look forward to very much! my collegue and i will make a killer team + with our artistic skills combined, students will produce works that will simply take primary school art to a whole new level! ha ha.

i mantra for this week is - 'you cannot get ahead while you are getting even' ... so true, so true.

i must love you & leave you.

i have cofa-itis.

'experiment' - just playing around with the development process.
and i came out with this. love|hate relationship with photography. ha.

*

cofaistis : (ko-pha-eye-tiz) [Med.] (see UNSWism) n.
a compulsive disturbance that affects one in four cofa students. incapacitates effective study, art-making practices and assignment progress.

i don't know what is is about uni, but i seem to be getting crazier everyday?
all assignments pile up after one another and i am just getting buried by these
obstacles. 2 assessments to go before a few weeks of more assignment build up...
i shouldn't be complaining because i chose this path.

i can put complaining down to being lazy, wanting to party hard and just
plain loss of control!

sure there's many more good things to come just like -
parklife which is 10 days away! i shall be set.

oh sweet sojourn!

having survived the university's end of session party and a six hour train ride - my productive semester at cofa is at interlude. a total of two weeks, the first week in research was a highly productive time spent in college.

my first day into the week at home, have i not only come back to work but the midnight cafe. a great addition to the vegas' edgy art & music scene! a uber casual, chilly night with my closest friend and catching up with some of the galleria crew - just how i like it.

& to other news: here is lady gaga's ultimate rendition of her dance floor hit pokerface on morning japanese t.v [to: you know who you are, much love]. hermaphrodite or not, gaga is archetype + a fashionista off the richter scale. check it

- your thoughts?

always hard at it and with the study that is lined up, i say there is to be no rest for the wicked.
